About Our Goats
We have been raising goats for almost 30 years. We have several breeds represented in our herd since our years in 4-H and dairy goat showing came to an end. Our focus now is mainly on milk production and hardiness. Personality is also a factor in goats we choose to keep. It’s much easier to work with friendly, personable goats than cranky, flighty ones. We definitely have our favorites!
Marilyn is a Lamancha Alpine cross who has figured out how to open our front door and let the herd in for treats (naughty girl but awesome on the milk stand and such a love). Mandy is a mini Lamancha who loves treats and apples. She’ll block the door with her foot just like the salesmen and won’t let you close it until she gets her goodie! Jilly and Philomena are great moms and love people but aren’t very nice to other goats who might happen to be in their area. Tink would come and “knock” on the door at milking time while Lixxie would yell her head off whenever I got out of her sight. Dallas is one of the rare spoiled babies who figured out how to jump up on the hay truck to get first choice of the hay. Her mom, Stickers, would “shake” and offer a hoof when asked. There’s so much personality packed into each of these interesting creatures that it’s hard not to love them.
